Healing Begins in the Body
Our bodies remember what our minds sometimes cannot. Trauma, stress, and chronic overwhelm are not only experienced as thoughts or emotions — they are stored in the body as tension, pain, or dysregulation. Somatic therapy helps you reconnect with your body’s wisdom, release what no longer serves you, and create a foundation for lasting emotional and physical well-being.
As an LCSW with extensive training in body-oriented practices, I offer therapy that blends evidence-based approaches with mindfulness, breathwork, movement, and energy-based practices to support both mind and body. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, present, and embodied — not just “fixed.”
My Somatic Approach
In somatic therapy, we explore the connections between body, mind, and nervous system. Together, we’ll focus on noticing sensations, understanding how your body responds to stress, and using gentle, regulatory practices to restore balance. Techniques I commonly integrate include:
- Yoga-inspired movement and postures
- Breathwork for nervous system regulation
- Mindfulness and guided body awareness
- Grounding and stabilization exercises
- Techniques for emotional release and fascia tension
- Polyvagal-informed strategies to support safety and resilience
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) approaches for working with parts (currently on waitlist for Level 1 IFS certification through the Institute for IFS)
Training & Experience
I bring a combination of clinical experience and somatic expertise to my work:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training
- Level 1 Reiki Certification
- Level 1 and 2 Accelerated Resolution Therapy
- Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy Certificate
- Trainings and experience in Polyvagal Theory, breathwork, fascia and emotional storage release, IFS parts work
This diverse training allows me to tailor somatic therapy to your nervous system, your history, and your goals, whether you’re working with trauma, chronic stress, anxiety, or emotional dysregulation.
Who Somatic Therapy Can Help
Somatic therapy may be especially beneficial if you experience:
- Chronic tension, pain, or “stuck” sensations in the body
- Anxiety, panic, or hypervigilance
- Trauma or post-traumatic stress
- Difficulty regulating emotions or nervous system responses
- Disconnection from your body or emotional awareness
- Patterns of self-criticism or internal pressure
- Stress-related health concerns
Even if you don’t know where to start, somatic therapy offers a pathway to reconnect with your body, feel safer in yourself, and release the weight of stored stress.
What to Expect
In sessions, we move at a pace that feels safe and attuned to your nervous system. You may notice a mix of talking, guided mindfulness, movement, breathwork, and subtle body-oriented interventions. You remain in control throughout — the work is collaborative, and your comfort and readiness guide each step.
Many clients find that somatic therapy not only decreases stress and tension, but also strengthens self-compassion, emotional resilience, and a sense of grounded presence in daily life.
Begin Healing in Your Body
Somatic therapy is an invitation to listen deeply, release what no longer serves you, and reclaim the sense of ease that may have been lost to trauma or chronic stress. Whether you are seeking support for a specific challenge or looking for ongoing therapy, sessions provide a safe, embodied space to reconnect with yourself.
