Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

A Gentle, Effective Approach for Healing Stress, Trauma, and Emotional Pain

Some experiences stay with us — not just as memories, but as body sensations, images, and emotional reactions that won’t go away no matter how much time passes. Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain reprocess these painful experiences so they no longer feel as distressing, overwhelming, or activating.

ART works with your brain’s natural ability to heal. Through guided eye movements and calming techniques, you are able to revisit difficult memories without reliving the emotional pain. The memory remains — but the emotional charge attached to it changes.

Many clients describe ART as gentle, focused, and surprisingly relieving.

How ART Helps

ART can be helpful for:

  • Trauma & PTSD
  • Anxiety & panic
  • Grief & loss
  • Phobias
  • Past relationship wounds
  • Stressful or painful memories
  • Health-related trauma
  • Performance anxiety
  • Burnout & work stress
  • Self-criticism or negative self-beliefs

Because ART works directly with how memories and emotions are stored in the brain and nervous system, people often experience meaningful relief in fewer sessions than traditional talk therapy alone.

What to Expect in an ART Session

Your safety and comfort guide the process.

During ART, you will not be asked to share every detail of your experience unless you want to. You remain fully in control of your session and your pace. I use calming, rhythmic eye movements along with grounding techniques to help your brain process what it has been holding onto.

Clients often notice:

  • Decreased emotional intensity around triggers
  • Feeling calmer and more grounded
  • A shift in how they see the memory or belief
  • Less body tension
  • Increased clarity and relief

Many people appreciate that ART does not require retelling or analyzing the painful memory in detail. We work with both the body and the nervous system — not just the story.

Short-Term or Ongoing Support — Your Choice

I offer ART in two ways, depending on your goals and needs:

Short-Term ART-Focused Care

If you are specifically seeking ART for a particular issue or event, I am happy to provide brief, targeted treatmentfocused solely on this intervention. This may be a good fit if you already have another therapist or simply want support around one specific concern.

Integrated Into Ongoing Therapy

For many clients, ART becomes part of our ongoing individual therapy work. We weave it in alongside somatic therapy, mindfulness, and talk therapy — supporting both the root memories and the present-day patternsconnected to them.

We will always move at a pace that respects your nervous system, your history, and your readiness.

A Compassionate, Body-Aware Approach

As a trauma-informed therapist, I honor your autonomy, your limits, and your lived experience. ART is always offered in a way that centers:

  • Emotional and physical safety
  • Consent and choice
  • Nervous system regulation
  • Respect for your story
  • Collaboration and care

Healing doesn’t have to mean reliving the hardest parts of your life. There are gentler pathways.
